The most common question I get asked is;
“Do you need a website to be an affiliate marketer?”
Not necessarily… but you will need an online presence. You could choose to promote your links through social media, create an eBook, promote through forums, use YouTube videos, or market through email campaigns.
Most marketers would agree though, using a site as a promotional tool is common practice for your marketing mix. As such, your website must give consumers a clear idea of what your brand is about and what types of products or services you offer.
When you’re taking the first steps, I know better than anyone how overwhelming it can feel starting your own website. There are so many questions to ask – will I need to learn code? Where do I get a domain name? How much will a website cost?
For this reason, I have documented several marketing tools and services I use to grow my own affiliate business. Whatever your project – whether it’s a blog or a new business – I’m here to help you have fun and succeed online.
Web Hosting
Bluehost – When it comes to choosing a domain hosting service, we recommend that you select Bluehost. They have been my hosting service for over 3 years and I have 9 active websites in my online business. My customers and partners often ask me about my hosting company because I never complain about having any issues. That’s when I’m reminded of how lucky I am to be with Bluehost.
Bluehost particularly appeals to beginners because it offers the necessities for getting a WordPress site live. With plans starting at $2.95 a month, 24/7 live chat support, and a free SSL certificate and domain name included for the first year, bloggers and small businesses can get their website, blog, or eCommerce store started.
Domain Registration
I use NameCheap as my domain registration provider, but they now offer many other services as well. They offer competitive prices, expert help, and support, and are easy to set up.
Back-Up Services
It’s essential to have some form of backup software in place for all your documents and data or risk losing everything to a hard drive crash.
CrashPlan – is a backup service I use that aims to deliver on price and features for small businesses.
The package works on Linux, as well as PCs and Macs. There’s unlimited storage space, including unlimited versioning, and it’s easy to find documents by date, time, or version which is such a useful feature that it could be a reason for choosing this product in itself.
Autoresponder Email Marketing Services
GetResponse – I use GetResponse for their email marketing services. The deliverability is excellent and the prices are about the same as most services in that bracket.
GetResponse is my #1 autoresponder for many reasons. It’s unique in that it provides email marketing, landing pages, e-commerce, sales funnels, and webinars all under one roof. The product is good value for money, with excellent customer service and deliverability.
Aweber is the service I recommend to beginners because it is easy to use and requires a minimum of technical expertise. Besides, they offer a free plan and you can easily create a landing page that they host for you.
Re-Verification of Emails
Emails have a shelf life. They need to be re-verified from time to time. I use a service called Deliverbility.com. When emails get old they can even be turned into spam traps. If you send emails to spam traps you can get your IP on blacklists and this affects your email deliverability. So it is important to be able to upload your list from time to time to an email verification service to clean your lists.
WordPress Themes
Generate Press Premium WordPress Theme: I use Generate Press theme for this blog. The reason being, GeneratePress has a strong focus on excellent performance and small, clean code. The theme size is less than 30 kB, which is the smallest WordPress theme you’ll find. This makes it incredibly fast to load and one of the fastest WordPress themes out there. I highly recommend Generate Press.
I also use Elementor Pro which is a powerful WordPress page builder. It’s hands-down one of the best WordPress page builders that I’ve found. It’s rich in features, easy to use, and doesn’t slow down my website – and Elementor has direct compatibility with Generate Press – everything I could ask for.
Sqribble
Sqribble is a cloud-based tool that allows you to create eBooks (reports, whitepapers, etc.) in seconds. It uses ready-made templates and drag and drop design features that make self-publishing your eBooks a breeze. Sqribble is an easy-to-use platform that I use for my ebook design, and the ebook cover templates are seriously impressive. Video Content Creation
Invideo – I started using the free plan and was so impressed I bought the business annual plan. I’m not at all surprised at the raving reviews. Invideo is a platform that helps you to transform your content into great videos. There are too many great features to mention in my short review but the one thing that I really like is that they have close to 100 different categories of templates to choose from. The templates are simple and very captivating.
There are no restrictions on the videos you create. Meaning you can sell them, show them, share them, and use them for whatever. Once you create and download them, they’re yours!

Jarvis AI – Copywriting Software
Jarvis ai, is an AI-powered platform that uses GPT-3 technology to help you generate high-quality content as quickly and efficiently as possible. Video Services and Software
Screen Cast O Matic – They have a free version and a pro version. I use the pro version which starts at $1.65 per month, per user. Compare that to the much more expensive Camtasia Studio. I have found no limitations with Screen Cast O Matic and I have been able to make excellent screen capture videos.
YouTube. Youtube is one of the best ways to promote your product or service. With the video tools I mentioned above you should be able to create tons of great videos. I definitely recommend you to start your own YouTube channel, and commit yourself to upload a new video once a week or at least once a month.

Ad Submission Services
Directory Submissions are a good way and one of the simplest ways to receive inbound links to build link popularity for your site which will help your Web site rank higher in the search engines. It is the best and easiest way of creating link popularity and it’s almost free. Search engines value one-way links the most and Directory Submission provides you with them.

By knowing the numbers, you don’t have to make second guesses; you can make smart decisions based on the data. Without tracking it’s like flying blind!
Outsourcing Services
Contentfly.com – For excellent SEO content for your blog. They maintain a high standard of writing for fresh content. It’s been proven, companies who blog regularly receive 97% more links to their website than those that don’t—leading to a massive increase in web traffic.
Freelancer.com– When I need a virtual assistant I use Freelancer.com which is one of the largest outsourcing sites. Basically, you post a project and online professionals bid for your job.
The key to having a successful experience is to describe exactly what you want in advance. Take time to write the instructions clearly before posting your job.
I have had many successful projects completed on Freelancer.com. Your payment is held in Escrow and not released until you are satisfied with the work. Both the worker and you can review each other so people are generally on their best behavior.
Fiverr.com – Web workers propose their services for $5 (or more) on Fiverr.com. Voice overs and copywriting are some services I regularly purchase from Fiverr.com. Overall, Fiverr is a great platform to find professional freelancers, especially if you’re watching your budget.
Graphic Design Tool
Canva.com – Is my favorite design tool. When it comes to price, you can’t go wrong with Canva because it’s free! You can use every Canva template for free. There is an upgraded option to Canva Pro. When you upgrade to their suite of time-saving marketing tools, you’re also getting a world-class collection of premium photos and graphics.
Canva really offers a large variety of content types. From pre-sized social media image and header templates to marketing materials, documents, presentations, invitations, logos, and ads, you’ll find almost everything you need.
It is loaded with enough easy-to-use features and functionality, the drag-and-drop function makes it very user-friendly and saves you precious time.
